Health By Chocolate
Is chocolate really healthy? The research is somewhat promising in that chocolate MAY have some antioxidant properties that MAY help with heart disease and some cancer prevention. In the past, the media has focused on these findings but the research is not strong.
So why do we eat chocolate?

Yes, chocolate can be beneficial to our health but only the cacao ingredient and not the fat, sugar and salt so often added. These ingredients blended to the healthier cacao render it less than optimal, nutritionally. Chocolate, which is made more palatable with fat, sugar and/or salt is very energy dense with calories and very nutrient poor. Eating such foods on a regular basis can contribute to your waistline. If you are going to indulge in some chocolate, the darker choice is the better. Dark chocolate contains more of the polyphenols and flavonoids found in cacao, both powerful antioxidants.
